Infertility affects as many as 12.3% of women ages 15-44 (7.5 million women) in the United States. Many of the current treatments for infertility are costly, have low success rates and associated risks, and have the potential to negatively affect long-term health. Furthermore, data also suggests that couples with infertility are at increased risk for various complications of pregnancy even if they conceive without conventional fertility treatment.
Research suggests a link between a variety of health conditions and subsequent infertility, including PCOS, endometriosis, advanced maternal age, body mass index, clinical and subclinical hypothyroidism, as well as poor ovarian reserve.
